Below is a side comparison of the two parts. Notice the difference in thickness and structural make up. The original is on the right side. This component plays an important part in the  energy management of collision forces and the timed deployment of the air bag system. Would you want your safety compromised? Most insurers would specify the cheaper part.

This imitation Mitsubish hood had the outer skin separate from the inner frame. What a horrible felling if this flys up in your face at 60 mph. Poor spot welds and less welds than the  factory replacement hood is what caused this to happen
